Holland, MI (WHTC) – Last year, two Muskegon divers were convinced that they found the remnants of The Griffon, one of the most mysterious and enigmatic shipwrecks of the Great lakes, near Frankfurt, Michigan. More than 10 years before that, The Great Lakes Expedition Group found parts of a boat in Northern Michigan that they also thought was the destroyed ship. These claims, although inclusive in evidence, join a list of 20 other assertions in a new book, The Wreck of the Griffin, written by historians Cris Kohl and Joan Forsberg. Forsberg, as well as Holland authors Valerie can Heest and Craig Rich, will present some of The Griffin sightings in addition to other tragic shipwrecks at the 17th annual Mysteries and Histories Shipwreck program at the Knickerbocker Theater today, March 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $12.50 in advance at www.michiganshipwrecks.org or $15 at the door.
