EGLIN AFB, FL (WHTC) – The US Marine Corps confirmed that 27-year-old Staff Sergeant Andrew Seif of Holland Township was among 11 Armed Forces members killed when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed in the Gulf of Mexico off of the Florida panhandle this past Tuesday evening. The critical skills operator with the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion was part of a crew conducting training exercises. Sergeant Seif, a 2006 West Ottawa High graduate, was just awarded a Silver Star for aiding a fellow Marine during fighting in Afghanistan two years ago. Funeral arrangements are pending.
