Dog Dies in House Fire Near Marne

TALLMADGE TWP., MI (WHTC) – A fire at a house off of Johnson Street near 8^th Avenue in the Marne area broke out late this morning. Crews were able to contain the flames without injury, but a dog inside that belonged to the homeowner, who wasn’t at the residence at the time, died. Firefighters say that the blaze broke out in the main floor of the dwelling and spread to a lower level. No cause was immediately determined, and damage was described only as “significant.” An investigation into the incident continues.
