HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Explorers with the Holland-based Michigan Shipwreck Research Association say that they now know what caused the steel freighter William Davock to capsize west of Pentwater in Lake Michigan with 33 members on board during a blizzard on November 11, 1940. It was determined during a search last fall that strong waves had snapped the rudder, causing it to break a propeller blade and rendering the craft helpless. The MSRA has more at its annual event on March 21st at the Knickerbocker Theater.
