SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) – City councils in Saugatuck and Douglas are divided on how to handle the deteriorating Kalamazoo Harbor. The Kalamazoo Lake Harbor Authority made up of Saugatuck and Douglas representatives, wants to hire Edgewater Resources of St. Joseph to lead the project.
Phase one would cost over $74,000 and would be split between the two cities.
Douglas has approved it’s share, while Saugatuck is still considering. City manager Kirk Harrier says the city of Saugatuck needs to figure out what they can afford.
