PAW PAW, MI (WHTC) – A prison sentence of up to 15 years was handed down to Peggy and Randy Hamilton. The 46-year-old South Haven woman and her 28-year-old son pleaded guilty to first-degree child abuse stemming from an August arrest when an emaciated 11-year-old boy was found by Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputies running away on a darkened Columbia Township roadway. A plea deal was reached to avoid having the victim testify; it also kept the Hamiltons from being sentenced to life behind bars.
