GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A Grand Haven man is in the Ottawa County jail waiting arraignment on a felony assault charge after allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a sword. The incident occurred shortly before 1am in the 400 block of Elliot street. Police say the woman escaped with her two children on of whom is the child of the suspect. Police responded and the suspect initially refused to surrender. Officers made contact with the suspect by phone and he eventually surrendered about 30 minutes later. His name has not been released by police
