LISLE, IL (WHTC) – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Region III office outside of Chicago has issued a “white finding” of “low-to-moderate” safety significance for the Palisades plant near Covert. This stems from operator Entergy “failing to accurately calculate” radiation doses to workers during the replacement of 44 control rod driving housings last year. The NRC will now increase oversight of the facility and has downgraded Palisades one level in its Action Matrix. Entergy has 30 days to contest the agency’s finding.
