HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – A two-vehicle crash east of Holland on Thursday afternoon hospitalized a total of six persons. According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin, 19-year-old Catherine Rector of Holland, who had two other 19-year-olds in her car with her – Alexandria Jordan of Zeeland and Austin Mulders of Holland – attempted to pull out of a gas station onto Adams Street near 96th Avenue. As she did, the SUV of 20-year-old Tiffany Deroo of Hamilton slammed into the side of her vehicle. Rector had to be extricated by rescue crews and was flown to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital; she and Mulders, who was unbuckled in the back seat, were listed in serious condition. DeRoo and three of her passengers – 20-year-old Mary Sangali of Schoolcraft, along with a five and a three-year-old – suffered minor injuries. All of the injured were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
