Holland Committee Discusses Latest Rash of Graffiti Today

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The recent rash of anti-police graffiti in Holland will be addressed during today’s 4 PM monthly meeting of the city’s Neighborhood Improvement Committee in the second floor Training Center at Holland City Hall. Nearly 60 separate incidents of such vandalism have occurred since December 3^rd, after 88 total reported “taggings” in the previous 11 months. A reward of five thousand dollars through Silent Observer has been posted for information in apprehending at least two people involved in this latest graffiti spree. The city has retained an industrial maintenance company to help in cleaning up the vandalism at a cost of over five thousand dollars, which won’t be passed on to 28 of the 56 victimized property owners due to what city Housing and Neighborhoods Outreach Specialist Sue Harder says is the “extraordinary nature of the recent rash of graffiti, the necessity for quick abatement due to the nature of the tagging, and difficulties related to the extreme weather conditions we are experiencing.”
