Need to Protect Child Nutrition Standards

by Gary Stevens

During the June 1, 2014 public affairs program: USAgriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, along with Dr. Robert Murray, the President-Elect of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics discussed the need to protect the childhood nutrition standards that are helping provide kids with more fruits and vegetables. In a "media call" recorded on May 28, 2014, they discussed, among other things, the healthcare implications of childhood obesity, which has doubled during the past 30 years, as they were attempting to persuade the House to maintain such standards in debate last week.
