Bob Genetski (R-Saugatuck) that would lift the six percent state sales tax on purchases by counties of materials to build or renovate county jails, as Allegan County is building a new 18 million-dollar lockup.

    Today's Headlines: Weather more in keeping with mid-April than late January continues along the Lakeshore, although a cold wind is coming; a two-vehicle crash on Holland’s North Side snarled outbound traffic during the morning commute for more than an hour; although state lawmakers won’t get the Governor’s proposed fiscal 2014 spending plan until February 7th, some of the ideas presented by Rick Snyder in last week’s State of the State address are being tossed about in Lansing; public school officials across the country are still digesting new guidelines issued last week from the US Department of Education mandating “reasonable modifications” to accommodate disabled athletes; a relatively busy night of high school basketball is ahead for the Lakeshore.
