MUSKEGON (WKZO AM/FM) — It took all week, but they have finally seated a jury in Muskegon County for the second murder trial of Jeffrey Willis.
He is accused of snatching and killing Jessica Heeringa, a young mom and gas station clerk who disappeared five years ago. Prosecutor DJ Hilson says opening statements are now scheduled for Tuesday morning.
It was more difficult than usual to seat a jury due to all the publicity this case and Willis’s previous trial generated. Willis was convicted in November of killing jogger Rebekah Bletsch near her Dalton Township home in 2014, and has yet to be tried for allegedly attempting to kidnap a teenager in 2016.
