BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 24-year-old Allendale man suffered a head injury after a crash in Blendon Township on Saturday morning, but he may be facing more legal headaches ahead.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, the unnamed man was driving eastbound on Port Sheldon Street near 84th Avenue around 8 AM when his car drifted off the shoulder and into a ditch, where it went about 100 yards before striking a culvert. The motorist was taken to an undisclosed hospital in stable condition.
Buter said that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and once toxicology results return from the state police crime lab, the case will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for review. The sergeant added that the driver already has two prior convictions for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
