HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Perhaps overlooked along the Lakeshore due to the search for new managers of Holland and Holland Township, along with a police chief in Zeeland and a superintendent in Saugatuck, is the effort to land a new school chief in Hudsonville.
With Nick Ceglarek stepping down at the end of June to take over the helm at the Traverse Bay Intermediate School District, five men have emerged from 28 candidates to step in front of district leaders and make their best argument as to why they should operate the over 67-hundred-student district. Three of them will be queried this evening – one-time Hamilton Middle School principal Scott Smith, who has been the assistant superintendent in Hudsonville for the past seven years; Coloma school chief Peter Bush, a former Coopersville High principal; and Muskegon Oakridge Superintendent Thomas Livezey. Tomorrow, Rockford Assistant Superintedent Douglas VanderJagt and Hopkins Superintendent Gary Wood will answer questions.
According to district officials, the five semifinalists will be pared down tomorrow evening for a second and final round of interviews next Monday and/or Tuesday. The 50-minute question-and-answer sessions this week will be at the Media Center of Hudsonville’s new Freshman Campus building, beginning both today and tomorrow at 4:30 PM.
