ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There were some anxious moments around the noon hour on Friday at a gas station across from Grand Valley State University’s main campus near Allendale.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, a SUV that was attempting to turn left from eastbound M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive) to enter the Convenience Store of Speedway east of 48th Avenue was sideswiped by a westbound pickup truck, which then veered to the right and into the front of the station, causing damage to several windows and the front door of the establishment.
There were no reports of any injuries to either driver involved, to anyone at the station, or of any damage to the fueling pumps. The driver of the SUV was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way, as it was determined that he had pulled in front of the pickup driver, causing the accident.
