OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A West Olive woman, 60-year-old Ruth Bull, died in a Fourth of July traffic crash just before 7:30 Wednesday morning, according to Ottawa Count Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Buter.
He said the crash happened when Rhonda Vandermyde, 56, of Hamilton, failed to notice a red light at the intersection of southbound US31 and Port Sheldon Road.
The 2014 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer she was driving hit two passenger vehicles that were slowing or stopping for the light: A 2006 Jeep, driven by 60-year-old Ruth Bull of West Olive and a 2002 Windstar, driven by 24-year-old Emily Montelongo of Holland.
Bull was declared dead at the scene, Buter said. Montelongo was taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries. Vandermyde was not physically injured in the crash, Buter said, which remains under investigation.
