SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 29-year-old South Haven area man already on the run from the law ran afoul of those in brown even more on Monday night.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, an apparent routine traffic stop on County Road 687 near 48th Avenue in Bangor around 11 PM resulted in deputies asking the driver to step out of the vehicle because he apparently didn’t have a license. The suspect then started running, and after a brief chase, an arrest ensued.
There was a warrant already out for the apprehension of Stacy Harrington for skipping a district court appearance, and after deputies seized an active one-pot meth lab, finished product methamphetamine, additional components for manufacturing meth and marijuana in his vehicle, additional charges were tacked on. Harrington was arraigned on Tuesday in South Haven District Court, with bond set at 75 thousand dollars, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday, February 7th.
The case remains open, and any tips to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Stoppers (800-342-7867) or Silent Observer (269-343-2100) are welcome.
