LEIGHTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Every once in a while, there is a story along the Lakeshore about an farm animal that breaks loose from its surroundings and causes mayhem and mischief on area roads.
Such an occasion occurred around 2:30 PM yesterday afternoon when Michigan State Police troopers from the Wayland Post were dispatched to northbound US-131 near the 142nd Avenue exit east of Dorr. A cow that apparently escaped from the nearby Silver Dollar Rodeo reached the highway and started going the wrong way in the left lane, causing traffic to veer to the right.
No accidents occurred and nobody was injured during the hour-long time that the animal was loose. The unharmed bovine was retrieved by a worker from the ranch and returned to that facility.
