HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A long-time dream has led to a present-day reality in Holland, and two men behind that effort gained a reward for their efforts.
During last Friday’s annual meeting of Lakeshore Advantage at Hudsonville’s Pinnacle Center, Holland Board of Public Works General Manager Dave Koster and the municipal utility’s Board President Tim Hemingway were given the Lakeshore Advantage Visionary Award for their work in bringing the Holland Energy Park to life last fall. The honor goes to leaders “who are looking forward and spearheading initiatives that involve commitment, creative thinking, collaboration, partnership forming, and taking actions not yet done before in the region to create a positive economic impact now and in years to come,” according to Lakeshore Advantage.
In getting the natural-gas fueled electric power plant into operation, Koster and Hemingway was selected for the award over those involved in the Careerline Tech Center Early College Program and in Housing Next in balloting done by investors in the regional business promotion organization.
