UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – It was a busy Tuesday night in high school basketball along the Lakeshore, with 15 of the 20 varsity teams in action.
Unity Christian swept Holland by scores of 74-41 for the boys and 40-38 for the girls; Holland Christian split with Zeeland West, as the Maroons won the boys’ game, 46-37, but the Dux captured the girls’ contest, 41-34; West Ottawa split with East Kentwood, as the Panthers won the boys’ game, 68-50, but the Falcons captured the girls’ contest, 70-38; Zeeland East swept Byron Center by scores of 53-48 for the boys and 43-39 for the girls; Saugatuck split with Martin, with the Indians losing the boys’ game, 48-29, but taking the girls’ contest, 53-50; Fennville split with Lawrence, with the Blackhawks winning the boys’ game, 80-23, but losing the girls’ contest, 55-42; and Black River’s boys defeated Kalamazoo Heritage Christian, 53-51. This evening, Black River hosts Creative Tech in a doubleheader rescheduled from last month.

Jason Spezza’s second goal of the game, coming with less than six minutes remaining in the second period, broke a 2-2 tie and propelled the visiting Dallas Stars past the Red Wings last night, 4-2.
