HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 37-year-old Holland woman is spending New Year’s Day in the Ottawa County Jail after a two-vehicle crash on Holland’s North Side last evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, deputy Mac O’Connor was driving a department SUV eastbound around 5:43 PM and was turning left from Lakewood Boulevard onto Douglas Avenue on a green light when his vehicle was hit behind the driver’s door by the woman’s westbound automobile. She and a two-year-old boy in the back seat were not hurt, while O’Connor was taken to Holland Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The unnamed woman was taken into custody on charges of operating a vehicle while impaired and child endangerment, and is awaiting arraignment in Holland District Court. The crash remains under investigation.
