HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Community Action House in Holland has several ways for you to participate in Giving Tuesday with the goal of #Giving75ThousandMeals.
They have partnered with several local businesses including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Potbelly Sandwiches, and MidiCi the Neapolitan Pizza Company that will donate a portion of their proceeds today to Community Action House.You must show the appropriate flyer which is available online, to cashiers during checkout.
Families, individuals, and businesses wishing to support with food and personal care item donations may drop off their collected items at Biggby Coffee of Holland, which is serving as a drop of location for food drives this season.
Today at Brew Merchant located at 442 Washington Avenue in Holland, a #GivingTuesday event on behalf of Community Action House will feature award-winning brisket chili prepared by Brigitte Wooten of Jus’ Ribs n More. “Learn. Eat. Give. Drink” will take place from 5:30-7:30pm in Merchant Hall, the recently opened event space created by Chris Alderink of Brew Merchant, who is donating the space in support of the event.
Community members are invited to enjoy a bowl of chili and engage in dialogue and conversation with Jessica Garza, CAH’s Homeless Street Outreach Worker, to learn more about the program.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations of canned fruit to stock CAH’s food pantry shelves which support healthy balanced diets for families regardless of their financial situation.
A suggested $7 donation covers chili, cornbread, and opportunities for conversation Street Outreach staff. #GivingTuesday donations may be made in person during the event. Proceeds support about 75,000 free hot meals served annually out of the Community Kitchen, located at First United Methodist Church.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, recognized alongside Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Alongside many local organizations, Community Action House is leveraging this event to kick off the 2017 charitable giving season with a variety of opportunities give, get involved, and engage with efforts that daily improve the lives of people in our community in need.
