HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A Monday morning fire that burned a Holland Township graphic arts business down may be suspicious in nature.
That is the premise that Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detectives and staffers with the Michigan State Fire Marshal’s office are working on following the blaze at the Graphix Signs and Embroidery building off of Lakewood Boulevard and 112th Avenue. “A preliminary investigation does show a forced entry into the business that’s believed to be the result of a breaking and entering,” explained Sheriff’s Captain Mark Bennett. “Now the fire’s origin is still being investigated, but an initial stages of that portion of the investigation shows it to be suspicious.”
A dog trained to spot the use of an accelerant was deployed by Fire Marshals’ detectives to “obtain several pieces of evidence” that has been sent to the state police lab in Lansing for analysis. There were no injuries reported among firefighters from Holland Township and Zeeland that responded to the blaze, with no determination made yet of a dollar estimate of the damage done.
No suspects have been identified or apprehended in this incident, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer.
