GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – An 82-year-old Coopersville woman and a West Olive man were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash south of Grand Haven late on Thursday morning.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin and fellow first responders were called to the intersection of northbound US-31 at Comstock Street around 11:40 AM in regards to the collision involving Barbara Crandle who had wanted to make a turn with her southbound Cadillac with a northbound Jeep bearing down on her. “Miss Crandle proceeded through a flashing yellow light and was struck by (the vehicle of) 64-year-old Scott Durfee, (who) could not avoid Miss Crandle as she turned left in front of him,” Austin explained.
Crandle was taken to Mercy Health in stable condition, while Durfee suffered more serious injuries and was taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital for treatment. The Coopersville woman was cited for failing to yield right of way as the incident remains under investigation.
