ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Voters in Allegan County were apparently in a good mood as a number of ballot proposals passed in Tuesday’s municipal general election.
A five-year millage increase for .5 mill to maintain the Interurban Transit Authority for Saugatuck, Douglas and Saugatuck Township passed on a 1158-160 margin (87%).
A six-year, one-mill levy for fire safety cleared in Fennville by a 112-47 margin (70%).
A five-year, nearly one-mill renewal for road maintenance in Saugatuck Township was approved by a 597-123 margin (93%).
A 23 million-dollar bond proposal for refurbishing and upgrades for Fennville Public Schools passed by a 679-590 margin (54%).
A proposals for raising the non-homestead tax in Saugatuck Public Schools to 20 mills over a three-year span cleared by a 924-335 margin (73%), while a two-year, .25 mill levy for Saugatuck public recreation was approved by a 922-336 margin (73%).
