WRIGHT TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Eighteen illegal immigrants were arrested at a business in Coopersville Tuesday.
A federal search warrant from Homeland Security Investigations was carried out where all the immigrants worked at Demeester Wood Products in Wright Township on 32nd Avenue. The group which consisted of thirteen from Guatemala and five were arrested by special agents for Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and U.S. Border Patrol.
All 18 face administrative immigration violations. and six may face federal charges for allegedly sneaking back into the country after being deported in the past.
Officials say the raid was part of an ongoing investigation.
