HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – This summer the roughest stretch of a three-mile section of pavement near the western end of M-6 will be repaired and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is holding a meeting to review the reconstruction project.
It was originally slated for 2018, but MDOT moved up the date due to the rapid deterioration of the highway. The lack at that time of a key ingredient in the concrete is being blamed for the deterioration.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a project meeting to review plans for this year’s reconstruction of M-6 between Wilson Avenue and I-196. MDOT officials will provide project details, scheduling and traffic information. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the two-hour period to learn more about the project and provide comments.
The meeting will be held Thursday, May 11 at the Jamestown Township offices located at 2380 Riley Street in Hudsonville from 4-6 p.m.
MDOT will invest $10 million to reconstruct M-6 in each direction from I-196 to just east of Wilson Avenue. M-6 will be closed and detoured between I-196 and US-131.
You can follow MDOT online and on Facebook and Twitter. You can also download MDOT’s Mi Drive traffic information app.
