LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The site of a former Delphi plant in Coopersville is doing quite well in its new life, thank you very much.
That’s the message apparently conveyed by the Michigan Strategic Fund in its latest round of approved projects announced on Tuesday. Continental Dairy Facilities and Fairlife, two separate dairy processing companies occupying the 100-acre location off of Randall Street, are getting a total of 2.4 million dollars in a Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant towards increasing capacity in its wastewater treatment system. This would allow the two firms to expand its product and production lines to the tune of 173 million dollars and creating 52 jobs. The city of Coopersville is upgrading its own wastewater facility to the tune of 1.1 million dollars in conjunction with this project.
Continental Dairy moved into the site when Delphi moved out five years ago, with Fairlife coming on board in 2015.
The MSF also approved a request of over 970 thousand dollars in local and school tax capture from the Grand Rapids Brownfield Development Authority to help in turning a vacant building in the Wealthy Street corridor into a mixed-used Lofts on Wealthy development project.
