HOLLAND TWP. MI (WHTC) – Two men are at Holland Hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries after a three-vehicle crash Friday morning.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the crash on Northbound US-31 and 8th Street around 6:05 a.m. Sgt. Bob Ruster says 56-year-old Calvin Lyons was driving a 2013 Chevy Impala and failed to stop at the red signal at 8th Street. Lyon’s vehicle struck an eastbound 2015 Ford box truck driven by Vichet Poam of Zeeland. The 37-year-old’s box truck then was forced into a westbound 2011 Chevy pickup driven by 45-year-old Derek Peuler of Hudsonville.
The box truck rolled on it’s side after impact and it’s load was spilled over US-31. Northbound lanes of US-31 were shut down for over two hours for vehicle removal and cleanup.
Both Lyons and Poam were wearing seatbelts and were transported to Holland Hospital and their condition is unknown. Peuler was not injured in the crash.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Holland Township Fire Rescue and the crash remains under investigation.
