In Class A, West Ottawa hosts Grandville, with Gary Stevens calling the action at 6:40 PM on 1450 WHTC, while the Wyoming at Zeeland East contest has Greg Chandler courtside, also at 6:40 PM, on the Lakeshore’s 92.7 The Van. Holland Christian meets Hamilton in a Class B district game at Coopersville.

Ashland University completed an undefeated, 31-win women’s basketball season yesterday by downing visiting Grand Valley State in the Great Lakes Conference tournament final, 85-76. Andi Daugherty had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles. The Lakers (23-7) will head right back to Kates Gymnasium on the Ashland campus for first-round NCAA tournament action on Friday evening, taking on Ursuline College of Ohio, also 23-7.

The Detroit Tigers, 8-5 losers in Clearwater to the Philadelphia Phillies in exhibition action yesterday, face the Baltimore Orioles in Lakeland this afternoon. Broadcast time with Dan Dickerson and Jim Price from Marchant Stadium is 1 PM on 1450 WHTC.
Out west yesterday, the Chicago Cubs played a 9-9 tie with the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-1. This afternoon in Arizona, the Cubs face the Los Angeles Angels and the White Sox battle the San Diego Padres.

In state major-college basketball last night, Michigan won at Nebraska, 93-57. This evening in the Mid-American Conference tournament, Western Michigan hosts Miami of Ohio, Central Michigan travels to Kent State, and Eastern Michigan entertains Northern Illinois.
