JAMESTOWN TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 14-year-old Allendale teen is in serious condition after being hit by a car Tuesday evening.
Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at Adams Street west of 40th Avenue in Jamestown Township around 8:27 p.m.
Sgt. Eric Westveer says Hayden Barker had been a passenger in the vehicle driven by 16-year-old Ghabriel Domeir of Byron Center, but exited the 2004 Saturn ION and began walking east on Adams Street. The vehicle was also east on Adams Street in an attempt to locate Barker to pick him up.
As the vehicle approached Hayden’s location, he stepped into the roadway and was struck by the Saturn driven by Ghabriel Domeir.
Hayden was transported by Life EMS in serious but stable condition to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Ghabriel was not injured in the crash.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
