GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC) – A Hudsonville man spent Friday night in Ottawa County Jail after being involved in a hit-and-run that sent two men to the hospital.
The incident happened around midnight at the Baldwin St. and Main St. intersection in Georgetown Twp. Brandon Patterson, a 23 year old Hudsonville resident, and his 22 year-old front seat passenger Andrew Proper were stopped at a red light in a Mercury Sable when they were struck from behind by a 35-year-old Hudsonville man driving a Honda Pilot. Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says the man fled the scene after the accident. Witnesses to the accident followed the Honda and relayed the whereabouts of the vehicle to Ottawa County Dispatch.
The suspect is being held at the Ottawa County Jail pending arraignment. Alcohol was deemed a factor in the crash. Patterson and Proper were treated at the scene by paramedics and then transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in stable condition.
