GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A 21-year-old former Hope College student-athlete was sentenced for a sexual assault of an apparently unconscious woman in a school dorm room last fall.
Chase Edgar was ordered to six months in the Ottawa County Jail and put on five years probation by Circuit Court Judge Karen Miedema on Monday. He pleaded no contest last month to an attempted prostitution/pandering charge in exchange for having a third-degree sexual conduct count dropped against him.
Prosecutors claimed the the one-time lacrosse player took advantage of the unnamed 19-year-old in his room last October. The school expelled Edgar following its own investigation into the matter.
