HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are finishing up work on the structural steel painting at the US-31 bridge over the Macatawa River.
Leo Evans of MDOT says for the next 1-2 weeks there will still be signs of activity as all the equipment is removed from below the bridge. Expect the SB closure of the weave/merge lane between the Lakewood SB on Ramp and the SB exit ramp to Chicago Drive to be in place through the end of next week while the cleanup takes place.
On Monday, June 19th, the median lane of eastbound and westbound I-196 Business Loop closed under US-31. The median lane closures should last approximately 1 week or less, and then will be switched to outside lane closures.
Also beginning next week another Contractor on site to begin work on the concrete surface coatings of all the structures as well as an epoxy overlay of the northbound US-31 bridge deck over Lakewood Boulevard.
For this work there will be daily (7AM – 3PM) closures of the right lane of NB US-31 from Chicago Drive north to Lakewood Boulevard. These right lane closures are expected to be in place Monday (6/19) – Wednesday (6/21) next week. After completion of work in the right lanes we will need a single day of left lane closures on the NB US-31 bridge over Lakewood Boulevard. This left lane closure is currently planned for Thursday, June 22nd from 7AM – 3PM.
