POLKTON TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 24-year-old Coopersville-area man will probably have to answer in court for his actions on Thursday after he answers to his body following an injury crash.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Dennis Luce, the unnamed man was pulled over by a deputy on northbound 68th Avenue near Roosevelt Street around 2 PM, but after stopping for a moment, the suspect then turned around and sped off “at a high rate of speed” in the opposite direction. He drove the car about a third of a mile before attempting to turn into a private residence. However, the vehicle lost control while going through a ditch and crashed into a tree in the front yard.
The unbuckled motorist was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in stable condition. Luce said that charges of fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, and a violation of bond conditions should be sought from the county prosecutor’s office against the suspect once the investigation into this case is complete.
