HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The nights are getting longer as Summer officially approaches and it’s showing no signs of cooling off.
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has now extended a Beach Hazard Statement till 11 a.m. Monday, June 12.
Temperatures will reach 90 with dangerous conditions on beaches from Holland north to Manistee will see high wave action making swimming conditions dangerous. Strong currents and rip currents are possible too.
The red flags are up at area beaches warning beach-goers to not go into the water and to stay off the piers. Swimming will be difficult and the currents could prevent swimmers from being able to keep their feet at the bottom.
A 27-year-old Lansing man was an apparent drowning victim in the waters of Lake Michigan at Holland State Park on Saturday evening.
