HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Festival season is in the air in West Michigan, with three major cities along Lake Michigan gear up for a week of food, music, and fun.
The Venetian Festival in Saugatuck will begin on Friday, with children’s games in Coghlin Park starting at 5 p.m., followed by some 80s dance music to get the party started. On Saturday, boats on the kalamazoo river will have a chance to play “Dinghy Poker.” The festival winds down with a Lighted boat parade dedicated to this year theme “Salute to Our Military.” Finally, fireworks over the river finish the weekend.
The Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven also begins this weekend, with tons of events going on throughout the weekend and following week. Some highlights for this weekend include the Saturday Kids parade starting on Grand Haven’s Washington Ave at 10:30, a cardboard boat race on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and the Cruise-in Car show on Washington Ave and Harbor Dr. on Sunday from 7:30-2:30. On The waterfront stage, you can enjoy a Stevie Wonder Tribute Band on Friday at 8 p.m. and A Journey Tribute Band on Saturday 8 p.m.
Finally, The Ottawa County Fair is still in full swing at the Fairgrounds on Ottawa Beach Rd. Wednesday is seniors day and Firefighter, Police, and Military Appreciation day, Thursday is Tweens & Teens day. On Friday, the grandstand will be housing Country singer DeWayne Spaw and the Super Kicker Rodeo. On Saturday, head over to the beer tent to listen to live music by local artists or get dirty at the grandstand during the Ottawa County Fair Mudruns.
