SPRING LAKE TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A man is in custody for a third drunk driving offense.
On Tuesday, July 11, a concerned citizen called Ottawa County Dispatch at 8:45 p.m. to report a possible drunk driver. The caller said the vehicle was at the Admiral gas station at the car wash located at 17035 Lloyd’s Bayou Drive in Spring Lake Township. The caller gave a description of the vehicle and also provided plate number to dispatchers.
A deputy located the vehicle on Savidge near Lake Street in the Village of Spring Lake and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop, continued eastbound onto Leonard. The vehicle continued to head east refusing to stop until he hit a tire deflation device near 112th Avenue on Leonard. Sgt. Matt Wilfong says the vehicle continued driving with both front tires flat on Leonard to an address near 108th and Leonard.
The vehicle then stopped in the front yard of it’s house and the driver was taken into custody shortly after. The male driver whose name is not being released is lodged at Ottawa County jail for fleeing and eluding, resist and oppose and felony operating while intoxicated.
