HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Two Lakeshore manufacturing plants where components for semi-trucks and other large commercial vehicles are made are closing their doors.
SAF-Holland with manufacturing plants in Holland and Muskegon will close in the next 18 months.
According to a news release on the company’s website, SAF-Holland plants in Holland and Muskegon will close, but the company’s administrative offices and testing centers will be centralized in Muskegon. The plants will move to Arkansas, Ohio and Texas.
The facility in Muskegon will allow the company to build a state-of-the-art engineering and technology center and keep the headquarters and corporate functions of the Americas region in Muskegon.
The press release states market weakness in the North American truck and trailer markets which are forcasted to decline again in 2017 as the cause.
It is not known how many jobs will be lost along the Lakeshore.
