Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader in Midland against Northwood last night. Lindsay Orwat scored 19 points as the Lady Wolves won the home opener, 60-53. The visiting Laker men took the nightcap, 93-78, thanks in part to 21 points from Trevin Alexander. GVSU’s teams are in Sault Ste. Marie to face the Lake Superior State Lakers tomorrow afternoon.
In sate major college basketball this evening, Central Michigan hosts Toledo and the University of Detroit battles Oakland in Rochester.

Second-period goals by Brett Richie, John Klingberg and Stephen Johns powered the Dallas Stars past the visiting Red Wings last night, 5-2. Detroit hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena tomorrow evening, with broadcast time at 6:40 PM on 1450 WHTC.
