HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The wind has died down with the Wind Advisory now expired, but thousands in West Michigan are still without power. At Holland State Park Tuesday evening, wind gusts were recorded at 62 mph.
As of 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, just under 200 Consumers Energy customers in Ottawa County are still without power according to their outage map. Crews have been working through the night to restore power says Consumers Energy’s Roger Morgenstern.
“For some reason if you’re out of power for a couple days and we hope that doesn’t happen, if you use a portable generator please make sure it is properly installed and vented. Do not run it in a garage or carport. It can create carbon monoxide which is odorless, colorless and can kill you.”
In the event of a power outage, you can reach Consumers Energy 24/7 at 1-800-557-4625 or online. Business customers can sign up for text alerts by texting REG to 232273 (CECARE) and providing their account number when prompted. Additional storm and outage alerts are available online from the Consumers Energy outage center.
