ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – As a Zeeland family prepares to lay a beloved mother and grandmother to rest and await the recovery from critical injuries of a 10-year-old boy, a decision is pending on possible charges against a pickup driver who apparently caused a fatal two-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon.
There are reports that 41-year-old Cameron Burrows of Holland had had his driver’s license suspended nine times in the past 17 years, along with citations for several types of moving violations, when he drove through a red light on eastbound Business 196 at apparently full speed and slammed into the side of a northbound car on 104th Avenue. The collision killed 65-year-old Sandra DeBoer and injured her grandson Gavin, while Burrows was treated for serious injuries at Holland Hospital.
Yntema Funeral Home officials said on Thursday that a Monday afternoon funeral service at Community Reformed Church on Felch Street is scheduled for Mrs. DeBoer. Full obituary details is here.
The Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case, as is standard in any fatal accident incident.
