HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A yearly tradition is taking place at Holland Public Schools.
The Moxie Strings are a talented trio of string players who come to Holland High every year to work with the High School orchestra. Students are learning about music composition, improvisation and more.
“They are on the forefront of music education and making thing relevant to students today. We’re teaching string clang which is hundreds of years old. To make it relevant to these students nowadays is paramount to keeping our program alive.They did right in and help these kids learn to take a risk musicially speaking. They get in touch with making things up, being creative and not just reading the notes on the page.” says John Reikow is the Director of Orchestras at Holland High.
A performance takes place tonight with Holland High students joining the Moxie Strings on stage showing what they have learned in a top notch performance.
7 p.m. tonight Wednesday, February 22 at Holland High School Performing Arts Center at 600 Van Raalte Avenue in Holland. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.
