UNDATED (WHTC) – On an action-packed Friday night in high school basketball along the Lakeshore, with all 20 varsity teams competing in nine girls/boys or boys/girls doubleheaders, these scores:
Unity Christian swept Holland by scores of 66-52 for the boys and 32-24 for the girls; Zeeland West split with Holland Christian, with the Dux winning the boys’ game, 48-40, and the Maroons the girls’ contest, 57-25.
West Ottawa split with East Kentwood, with the Panthers winning the boys’ game, 68-40, and the Falcons the girls’ contest, 66-34; Zeeland East split with Byron Center, with the Chix winning the boys’ game, 62-58, and the Bulldogs the girls’ contest, 45-28.
Hamilton swept Forest Hills Eastern by scores of 69-55 for the boys and 55-34 for the girls; Saugatuck split with Coloma, with the Indians winning the boys’ game, 60-53, and the Comets the girls’ contest, 47-37.
Fennville split with Bangor, with the Blackhawks winning the boys’ game, 87-46, and the Vikings the girls’ contest, 39-28; Black River swept West Michigan Aviation Academy by scores of 62-56 for the boys and 54-34 for the girls.
Finally, in a split doubleheader at Holland Christian High, Calvary’s boys fell to Wyoming Godfrey Lee, 62-50, but the Crusader girls defeated Grand River Prep, 57-12.

One of the most tension-packed doubleheaders in recent years at DeVos Fieldhouse awaits Hope College basketball fans on Saturday, as the Flying Dutch host Trine for the MIAA women’s regular-season title and home court in next weekend’s league tournament, followed by the Flying Dutchmen entertaining Calvin for the chance to go undefeated in MIAA regular-season play. In state major-college basketball on Friday night: Illinois-Chicago 74, Detroit 69; and Oakland 82, Valparaiso 71. On Saturday, Michigan State is at Purdue, Eastern Michigan is at Western Michigan and Ball State is at Central Michigan.
