HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A long-time Holland city staffer has stepped down.
When the City Council meets tomorrow night for its biweekly meeting in Chambers at City Hall, Anna Perales will not be in attendance. Following a closed-door special meeting prior to last Wednesday’s work-study session, council members approved a resignation and release agreement with Perales that ends her 17-year tenure as Deputy City Clerk.
No details of the special meeting, the agreement or what led to the resignation were disclosed by city staff or by Perales. She was handling the clerk’s duties without official designation for eight years during a residency and tax dispute between the city and Clerk Jenifer French that was settled in 2014 with French’s resignation. City Finance Director Tim Vagle was given the Clerk’s title following that settlement while Perales handled the day-to-day operations of the office.
