SPRING LAKE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – He may not get as much support from the Democratic party establishment as those challenging Fred Upton, but Rob Davidson is apparently not going to make a feeble attempt to take on Bill Huizenga.
The emergency room physician from Spring Lake’s latest issue with the four-term Republican incumbent Congressman is net neutrality. Davidson’s campaign announced on Tuesday an online petition effort calling on Huizenga and his colleagues to pressure the Federal Communications Commission not to lift restrictions on Internet providers in a scheduled meeting this Thursday that some fear will lead to a spike in costs for online access, and to not legislate such actions that would lead to lifting these restrictions. The challenger plans on submitting the change-dot-org petition to Huizenga and the FCC prior to the Thursday meeting.
While Davidson campaigns in relative obscurity in one of the GOP’s strongest bastions, several Democratic challengers have received far more support in their efforts to unseat the 18-term Republican Upton, as many see his seat as one that could be flipped next year.
