HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Hope College students moved in over the weekend and the incoming class of 2021 were welcomed during Opening Convocation held on Sunday.
The speaker at the Richard and Helen DeVos Fieldhouse was Provost and Professor Dr. Cady Short-Thompson. Dr. Short-Thompson joined Hope College after seven years as the dean at the University of Cincinnati-Blue Ash College, and has past experience at Northern Kentucky University as a communication professor and chair of that school’s Department of Communication.
It will be a busy week for students as Welcome Week kicks off Monday, August 28. There will be plenty of activities all week such as a volunteer fair, drive-in movie on campus and new students day of service with “Time to Serve” on Saturday, September 2.
On Saturday September 9, the 52nd annual Community Day will take place at Windmill Island Gardens. The first home football game of the season will be held at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium against Defiance College of Ohio at 1:30 p.m. , will be held at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. The West Ottawa High School marching band will perform during pre-game and halftime.
