LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Southbound I-196 near Saugatuck is clear after police cleaned up what was described as a massive semi-truck fire.
Early on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 16, the portion of southbound I-196 near exit 41 was shut down due to semi-truck that caught on fire.
Officials say they are unsure what exactly ignited outside the trailer in the back of the truck.
It took several hours and multiple crews to contain the fire. Both lanes are now re-opened and no injuries have been reported.
