HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Home buying can be stressful, if not scary process. The Community Action House of Holland is planning a Home buyer Education Workshop to try to alleviate some of those worries.
During the workshop, industry professionals will discuss the home buying process, including how to budget, how to choose a realtor, property taxes and insurance information, as well as the importance of home inspections and maintenance.
The workshop will also help Ottawa and Allegan County residents learn about different tax credits and grants they can take advantage of, like those offered by MSHDA Mortgage and the Homeownership Opportunities Program (HOP).
Rachel VonIns of Mortgage One will be speaking about how a mortgage works, which has changed over the last few years. “Even if you’ve bought a house before, if you haven’t gone through the process in the last three years, your considered a first time home buyer.” She also says that people who bought a home 20 years ago only had to produce a paystub to prove they had income coming in, but now it’s a lot more paperwork.
This free workshop will be held on Thursday, August 10 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. The location is the Macatawa Resource Center at 665 136th Ave., Suite 1 in Holland. Lunch will be provided.
